48 hours, 15 designers, 5 sukkahs.
Assif is a project that brings together 15 designers from various fields and from around the country for 48 hours of design and creation in Yeruham’s public space. During the marathon, the designers plan and build original sukkahs, offering radical solutions to traditional planning restrictions.
The project, initiated by the Pais Design Terminal Lab in Yeruham, is conducted every year around Succoth.
The Sukkas’ location varies every year, based on the concept. During the marathon, visitors are introduced to the design, creative and construction process, after which they can enjoy a tour of unusual sukkahs. The designers are divided into 5 teams, each creating a sukkah. The creative process begins with planning, after which each group is allocated a budget for purchasing materials from local businesses toward building the sukkah that it planned. We place an emphasis on groundbreaking design, challenging consensus and providing innovation in an area that is not usually innovated. The deliverables each year are original, refreshing and intriguing, uniquely using local raw materials and cooperating with businesses and factories in Yeruham.
